What is Skin Barrier damage or compromised Skin Barrier

                         

Skincare is so important but tricky as hell,  it can get a little confusing as to what products to put on your face. And For god's sake it is double the amount of trouble if one has a compromised Skin Barrier  .

I know , what a compromised Skin Barrier is , not because of someone telling me , but because , I have experienced it my self . 

A lot of people don't know that being too harsh on your skin which means exfoliating every single day , applying too much of acids on your face , not going in with sunscreen daily and taking a lot of stress about your skin related issues can lead to a compromised Skin Barrier

Compromised skin barrier in simple words means , your skin being in a state of oily , dehydrated , itchey , irritated , acne prone , dry and sensitive at the same time . 

If you face all of these issues at the same time this means your skin barrier has been compromised .

How the problem of damaged Skin Barrier starts ?







Our skin produces natural oils which is called sebum .A lot of people think that due to sebum and oilyness  they get pimples .

But No that's not true the sebum is not the reason for acne or pimples , but when it combines with other environmental factors like , pollution and dirt that's when a pimple or a zit is formed .

Now what we do is , wash off all the natural oils from the surface of the skin with a oil free cleanser .Making the skin feel super clean and tight , you may think that's good where as in reality its not . 

Now to compensate the oils ,  skin start's to produce more oils , more oil production means , more dirt sticking to your face means , more cloged pores which means ,  more pimples and you start to wash your face more often , and that's when you suffer from a compromised skin barrier . 


How to Strengthen Skin Barrier



There are multiple ways to strengthen the compromised Skin Barrier again and be back to normal skin .
I personally like to go on skin fasting when ever I feel my Skin Barrier has been compromised . 

Though its 2020 & there are so much more options available . There are two methods by which you can strengthen your Skin Barrier .



1) Skin Fasting -

This is the first method and the no side effect method , according to me for strengthening your skin barrier , if you have messed up the things . 

In this method you have to completely stop using any products on your face and you just need to wash your face with normal plain water .

Some times even water can be too harsh for your skin , when you have a compromised skin barrier . 
Cleanse as less as you can . Moisturize with a basic moisturizer . Even if you have a oily skin .

No cleansers , toners , and exfoliators for at least 2 months or may be even longer . You can just use sunscreen , but that too has its own potential risk .

2)Using basic products to soothe the skin  - 

Using some calming products on your face and completely avoiding exfoliators is the second method which will strengthen your skin barrier

Products containing anti-oxident and moisturizing properties should be only included in this method for restoring skin barrier . Makeup should be completely avoided , until your skin comes back to normal . 

Below are some recommendation of products . & most of them are Korean products which can really help to maintain skin barrier .

I agree that some products shouldn't be used everyday, in fact when i hear people do a 10 step skin care routine every day I feel bad for the skin. One thing I absolutely hate is scrubs, they really affect my skin and cause so much irritation and inflammation so I use chemical exfoliants but only a couple of times per week.

Good post written well for me I stopped using any products because budget was not on my side I started using natural products like tomato face mask and my skin became better I wanna try this method of washing my face with plain water and also try this rice method you mentioned thank you for sharing though this was informative.
